Parent Club Raises Funds for Digital Piano
Over the summer, the Boys & Girls Club began looking at expanding its musical programming. Specifically, the Club wanted to find a way to offer lessons to members, and needed instruments.
The BGC Parent Club decided to help, and set a goal of raising $300 towards the purchase of a digital piano.
After several months of gathering supplies and publicizing the event, the Parent Club (now the Volunteer Club) held a rummage sale in July. It was a GREAT success, with over $550 raised during the event and another $200 mailed in by a generous supporter.
The Parent Club’s efforts were doubly successful thanks to a matching gift of $300 by the Natalie Patrick Foundation.
The instrument will certainly be put to good use: local musician and piano instructor Mary Stevens has volunteered to teach piano lessons to Club members. She hopes to begin later this fall.
