2011 Festival of Trees “An Overwhelming Success”
Thirteen Christmas trees lit up the old Bi-Mart location at Holiday Village Mall on December 2nd as a sell-out crowd gathered to celebrate the Boys & Girls Club of the Hi-Line at the fourth annual Festival of Trees.
Over 250 people came out to enjoy catered food, lively music, and a friendly competition for silent auction items.

Club Honors Champions of Youth
At the fourth annual Festival of Trees, the Boys & Girls Club of the Hi-Line gave two awards to supporters who went above and beyond in their giving in 2011.
The first recipient was David Leeds of New Media Broadcasters.

Remembering 9/11: A Day of Service at the Club
This September, Club members will be remembering the past by preparing for the future.
In honor of the 10th anniversary of 9/11, Boys & Girls Club members will have the opportunity to make disaster kits, for their families and organization in the community.

Parent Club Raises Funds for Digital Piano
Over the summer, the Boys & Girls Club began looking at expanding its musical programming. Specifically, the Club wanted to find a way to offer lessons to members, and needed instruments.
The BGC Parent Club decided to help, and set a goal of raising $300 towards the purchase of a digital piano.

Giving is a Snap: Digital Cameras for Photo Tech
Photographs are an integral part of the Boys & Girls Club experience. Members enjoy seeing themselves on bulletin boards, on the Club’s Facebook page, and even in the Havre Daily News. Members (age 10 and up) can also enjoy getting behind the camera, as members of Photo Tech.

Cars4Kids Going Strong
12 vehicles donated so far
From Chinook to Gilford, residents all across the Hi-Line are using their junker vehicles to make a difference.
The Club has once again partnered with Pacific Steel & Recycling for the recycling fundraiser, Cars4Kids. Pacific gives the Club between $125-$150 for each (complete) car donated, and the donor receives a tax receipt for the same amount.

Summer Club Attendance Reaches All-Time High
Summer has typically been a quieter season at the Boys & Girls Club of the HI-Line.
Not so this year.
For the first time in the Club’s history, summer Club registrations equaled school year registrations, and attendance in June averaged 150 kids per day (only marginally lower than the average 198 during the school year).

Great Expectations Wins the Gold
In May Rachel Dean, editor of Great Expectations, accepted the Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s prestigious MAC Award for exceptional marketing and communications efforts during the organization’s 105th annual national conference in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Keystone: Baking to Make a Difference in Japan
On Friday, March 10, Japan was rocked by a powerful tsunami, triggered by the 9.0 earthquake that wrenched the island nation. The fallout included an explosion at a nuclear power plant, entire towns and villages being wiped out, and a major hit to the Japanese economy.

Keystone and Torch Clubs: The Great Backpack Giveaway
Most people think of April 15th as Tax Day. It is also Global Youth Service Day, and at the Boys & Girls Club, Keystone and Torch Club members made the most of it.
The Club received a donation of 200 backpacks, which Torch and Keystone decided to distributed to their fellow Club members.

Jumping Jack Record Set
Kids gathered in the gym yesterday along with Kids from Boys & Girls Clubs around the globe to try to break the Guiness Book of World Records for the most kids simultaneously doing jumping jacks for 2 minutes.

On February 24th, three Montana youths were honored at the Montana Youth of the Year banquet in Helena for having overcome an extraordinary amount of adversity in their young lives.

The Boys & Girls Club’s "Campaign for Kids 2010” finished strong, raising over $14,500 to fund vital programming for our members.

Edmonds Family: Making a Monthly Difference
When Christy and Anthony Edmonds attended parent orientation last fall, most of the information was a review.
The Edmonds have had children in the Club for the past five years. Mackenzy, the oldest, is now a valued member of the Junior Staff, and her younger siblings Trinity and Gabriel can often be found in the GAP or Music & Media centers. Harley enjoys hanging out in the teen center.

Life Skills with Laurie: Teen Survival Cooking
The Boys & Girls Club offered a new life skills program to teens this fall: Survival cooking. Twice a week, Club members met with Youth Development Specialist Laurie Hurlburt and learned how to make a meal using a few simple ingredients. The Club’s lack of a stove was not an issue, as most of the meals only required a microwave.

Kitchen Special Auction: Goal Exceeded, Plans Underway
The Boys & Girls Club serves free after school snacks to 200 children each day, and provides a free summer lunch—without an oven or a dishwasher.

Priscilla Presnell: Montana’s Staff of the Year
The Boys & Girls Club of the Hi-Line is proud to announce that Priscilla Presnell has been awarded Club Staff of the Year for the State of Montana.
Priscilla received the award in recognition for her work in the Education Center, or "Power Hour.”

Cars4Kids raises over $13,000 for Club renovations
Area residents showed their support for the Boys & Girls Club this fall by recycling over 46 tons of scrap metal.
Recycled materials included 26 donated cars and scrap metal from Hank Tweeten’s and Custom Collision.
The funds are being used to renovate the Club’s new program centers, upgrade the Technology center, and offset repair costs.

Club to Host Regional Digital Arts Festival
The Boys and Girls Club of the Hi-Line has been selected by Boys & Girls Clubs of America to host the Regional Digital Arts Festival (DAF) in 2011.
The Club was chosen to host due to the excellence of our technology center, the varied programming offered to our members, and our close ties with community partners, including MSU-Northern and the Havre Daily News.
